Can you see the difference? I didn't notice at first either but while showing Quinn where we were at noticed the issue so I e-mailed Suzanne and she sent me a new photo this week. I haven't figured out how to rotate photos so finding it might be a bit harder but let's see.

Since this post has taken so long to get out, I also have three blocks from Mom. First we have Star Gardener :

Then we have Streak of Lightening:

And lastly we have Cut Glass Dish:

I haven't posted in a while because we have been really busy here. We did do the renovation that I mentioned back at the beginning of April. It took us five weeks to complete but we managed it together. We found some bumps along the road but are happy with the end results. Getting that going and done got a bug going in my husband and once we finished there he got us going working on the landscaping outside as well as painting the main floor powder room that had been bugging me for three years because of the dark chocolate, matte paint that previous owners had put in there. It felt like a cave but with a lighter shade of brown and an eggshell finish as well as moving the light fixture up a bit it is so much brighter.

The point of the renovation in the basement to my studio was to make room for a LongArm and I am proud to announce that we have made the final payment on an APQS Millenium (Millie) and she will be arriving on Monday morning. After a couple of weeks practice to remind myself of all the things I have learned through all the classes I took, I will offer LongArm Services so I am very excited.

Otherwise, we have two blocks this week.

Our first block is Block #46 - Hill and Valley:

Cut two 4" x 4" green squares. Cut these on the diagonal.
Cut one 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" green square.
Cut one 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" brown square.
Cut two 1 7/8" x 1 7/8" brown square.
Cut two 3" x 3" brown squares. Cut these on the diagonal.
Cut one 2 3/8" x 2 3/8" green square. Cut this on the diagonal.

Place the 3 1/4" green and brown squares RST and make them into HSTs. Place your ruler perpendicular to the stitch line and slice the two HSTs in half on the diagonal.

Organize your pieces the way you want them to look. I made the two remaining pieces into a QST for later.

Place one brown triangle RST with the half QST with the corners matching. Sew a 1/4" seam, set the seam and press to one side. Repeat with another brown triangle and the other half QST.

Place one small green triangle RST with the brown square with the corners matching along the short side of the triangle. Sew a 1/4" seam, set the seam and press to one side. Repeat with another brown square and small green triangle.

Place the brown square/green triangle RST with your pieced triangle, watching that you match the seams. Sew a 1/4" seam, set the seam and press to one side. Repeat for the other brown square/green triangle.

Place the remaining brown triangle RST with the corners matching on the green/brown piece that you already made. Sew a 1/4" seam, set the seam and press to one side. Repeat for the other brown triangle and green/brown piece.

Centre the long edge of the green triangle RST along the edge of the pieced triangle. Sew a 1/4" seam, set the seam and press to one side. Repeat with another green triangle and the other pieced triangle.

Place another green triangle RST along the remaining edge or the pieced triangle. Sew a 1/4" seam, set the seam and press to one side. Repeat with the last green triangle and the other pieced triangle.

Lastly, place the two pieced rectangles RST. Sew a 1/4" seam, set the seam and press to one side and the first block for this week is complete!

The second block for this week is Block #77 - Seasons.

Cut one 2 5/8" x 2 5/8" purple squares.
Cut two 3 3/8" x 3 3/8" purple squares. Cut these on the diagonal.
Cut four 2 5/8" x 4" raspberry rectangles.

In many ways this block is not much more than a simple nine patch.

Place the purple triangle RST with a raspberry rectangle with the corners matching. Sew a 1/4" seam, set the seam and press to one side. Repeat with two more purple triangles and raspberry rectangles. Place the remaining purple triangle RST with the corners matching on one of the raspberry rectangle/purple triangle pieces.

Place the remaining raspberry rectangle RST with the purple square. Sew a 1/4" seam along the short side, set the seam and press to one side.

Place one of the raspberry rectangle/purple triangle pieces RST with the raspberry/purple rectangle making sure to match the seam. Sew a 1/4" seam, set the seam and press to one side.

Repeat with the other raspberry rectangle/purple triangle on the other side of the raspberry/purple rectangle making sure to match the seam.

Place the pieced triangle RST with the larger piece making sure to match the seams. Sew a 1/4" seam, set the seam and press to one side.

Trim the patch you have sewn to 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" square making sure the centre of the centre purple square finishes in the centre after trimming and your second block for this week is finished.

See you soon. With any luck I should have another post before next Friday in order to get this all finished up sooner, rather than later.

Have fun!
